出自先秦《荀子·哀公》。鳥被逼得走投無路之時就會用嘴啄人，獸到困窘之時就會用爪抓人，人到窮困潦倒之時就會設(shè)計騙人。以鳥獸困窘之時的行為為喻，說明人到窮困潦倒之時便會放棄道德操守的原因。
