譯文 ：人的思想是隨著身體氣血的變化而變化的。四十歲之前具有奮發(fā)進(jìn)取之心，這時(shí)雖然見識(shí)不多，但是敢于闖蕩一番；到四十歲以后，人的心就逐漸穩(wěn)定下來了，這時(shí)已經(jīng)是見多識(shí)廣，而且遇到事情都會(huì)斟酌一下；六十歲之后，人的思想就開始消極保守了，這時(shí)雖然見識(shí)廣博，但是精力不夠。雖然這種情況不一定適用于每個(gè)人，但大體上都是如此。古代人們四十歲做官，六七十歲告老還鄉(xiāng)，大概是因?yàn)檫@個(gè)原因。當(dāng)然，人們中間也有年紀(jì)輕輕卻思想消極，無所事事的，無精打采的就像一個(gè)垂死之人；也有一些年老之人，性情狂躁，喜歡多事，但這些都不合乎常理。如果把那些遇事風(fēng)風(fēng)火火的少年人當(dāng)做是社會(huì)棟梁，而把那些意志消沉的衰老之人當(dāng)做老成持重的話，那也是錯(cuò)誤的。像鄧禹年少時(shí)就深沉、堅(jiān)毅，馬援雖年老卻精神矍鑠的人，古代確實(shí)有過，但畢竟不是多數(shù)！
