譯文 :人的思想是隨著身體氣血的變化而變化的。四十歲之前具有奮發(fā)進(jìn)取之心,這時(shí)雖然見識(shí)不多,但是敢于闖蕩一番;到四十歲以后,人的心就逐漸穩(wěn)定下來了,這時(shí)已經(jīng)是見多識(shí)廣,而且遇到事情都會(huì)斟酌一下;六十歲之后,人的思想就開始消極保守了,這時(shí)雖然見識(shí)廣博,但是精力不夠。雖然這種情況不一定適用于每個(gè)人,但大體上都是如此。古代人們四十歲做官,六七十歲告老還鄉(xiāng),大概是因?yàn)檫@個(gè)原因。當(dāng)然,人們中間也有年紀(jì)輕輕卻思想消極,無所事事的,無精打采的就像一個(gè)垂死之人;也有一些年老之人,性情狂躁,喜歡多事,但這些都不合乎常理。如果把那些遇事風(fēng)風(fēng)火火的少年人當(dāng)做是社會(huì)棟梁,而把那些意志消沉的衰老之人當(dāng)做老成持重的話,那也是錯(cuò)誤的。像鄧禹年少時(shí)就深沉、堅(jiān)毅,馬援雖年老卻精神矍鑠的人,古代確實(shí)有過,但畢竟不是多數(shù)!
